Former Speakers of the Senate
The position of Speaker of the Senate was created in 1974 as a renaming of the Vice President of the Student Body, which itself was created when the Student Government Association split into three branches in 1971-72. Prior to this time, the Senate was overseen by the Presidents of the Senate, which were considered the Student Body Presidents. Thus, the Student Body Presidents and the Speakers of the Senate share a common history.
